Student Exchange: Research Journey to Hannover

Step two: Go beyond the teaching lab

An exchange semester in Hannover can be more than attending classes abroad. Students may join a host laboratory and contribute to an ongoing research project. Rather than following a fully predefined teaching-lab schedule, you can gain experience with everyday research: preparing experiments, discussing results, solving problems, documenting work, and presenting findings.

• Work in a research team: Become part of a laboratory’s daily scientific environment.
• Contribute to an individual project: Take responsibility for a defined task or project component.
• Develop independence: Learn to plan, evaluate, and adapt experimental work beyond a fixed course protocol.
• Receive guidance: Work alongside experienced researchers, doctoral candidates, master’s students, or technical staff.

Research placements are individually discussed with the host group. Available projects, supervision, duration, and laboratory access depend on the research group, student background, and current capacity.
